| It was a cool day on Jahnplatz, but the atmosphere was anything but cold. People stood together, held signs, listened and started talking. Different voices, experiences and perspectives met – united by a common stance: against racism, for diversity. The main event on Jahnplatz was a visible sign of cohesion, solidarity and for a city that not only names diversity, but lives it. Especially in times of social challenges, it becomes clear how important such spaces are. Change begins where people listen to each other, exchange ideas and take responsibility together. We thank all those involved who made this afternoon possible and look forward to continuing along this path together. The action weeks around the International Day against Racism show again this year how strong Bielefeld is when civil society comes together. In the middle: the IBZ Friedenshaus e.V. – as an active part of the network of anti-racism work and co-organiser of the events. For us at the IBZ, this work means more than organisation. It is about creating spaces where encounters become possible, where people feel heard and can reflect together on how discrimination works in everyday life: often quietly, often unnoticed. The action weeks take place from 1 March to 30 April. They are organised by the ‘Bielefeld Network of Racism-Critical Work’ and coordinated by the Municipal Integration Centre.
