Political education in the IBZ
The Intercultural Education Centre Friedenshaus (IBF) is a state-recognised institution for adult political education.
We offer courses, information and discussion events on the following key thematic areas:
- Immigration and integration
- Living Democracy – Participation and Media Competence
- Human rights and political culture
- International politics
- Climate change and development – local and global perspectives for action
- Demographic change
The IBF focuses its content on taking up the perspectives and living environments of people with a history of immigration within the courses and dealing with relevant topics such as migration, flight and asylum. The IBF designs many educational opportunities together with the IBZ’s migrant self-organizations (house groups) – correspondingly, many IBF course instructors and lecturers have a migration background.
Target group of political education
The courses and events of the IBF are aimed at refugees, migrants and People of Color as well as all other interested persons aged 16 and over.
Participation in our events and courses is free of charge to enable people with little or no income to access education.
